Method

Fish Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Cod

In a large bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create a marinade. Add the fresh cod fillets to the bowl, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare Your Cooking Method

Choose your cooking method: grilling, frying, or blackening. For grilling, preheat the grill to medium-high. For frying, heat a skillet over medium heat with a little olive oil. For blackening, use a cast-iron skillet and heat it until very hot.

Cooking the Cod

  1. 3

    Grilling the Cod

Once the grill is preheated, place the marinated cod fillets directly on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

  2. 4

    Frying the Cod

Add the marinated cod fillets to the heated skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  3. 5

    Blackening the Cod

Sprinkle additional paprika and black pepper on both sides of the cod fillets. Place the fillets in the hot cast-iron skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the fish is blackened and cooked through.

Serving

  1. 6

    Plate the Cod

Once cooked, remove the cod from the grill or skillet and let it rest for a few minutes. Serve the fillets on a plate with a sprinkle of chopped fresh parsley and lemon wedges on the side.

  2. 7

    Add Sides

Serve with tartar sauce and your choice of rice or quinoa as a side dish.
