Prepare the Spice Mix

In a small bowl, mix together the ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cloves, and black pepper. Set aside.

Brewing the Tea

Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, bring the 2 cups of water to a boil over medium heat.

Steep the Tea

Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add the 2 black tea bags. Let steep for about 5 minutes.

Combining Ingredients

Add Spices and Milk

After the tea has steeped, remove the tea bags and add the prepared spice mix and 1 cup of milk (or non-dairy milk). Stir well.

Sweeten the Chai

Add 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the mixture. Stir again until fully combined.

Serving

Garnish and Serve

Pour the gingerbread chai into mugs and sprinkle with 0.5 tsp of ground cinnamon on top. Add whipped cream if desired.
