Method

Preparing the Waffle Batter

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.

Cooking the Waffles

  1. 4

    Preheat Waffle Iron

Preheat your Belgian waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. 5

    Cook the Waffles

Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a little oil. Pour an appropriate amount of batter onto the preheated waffle iron (usually about 1/2 to 3/4 cup). Close the lid and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, usually around 4-5 minutes.

  3. 6

    Serve

Carefully remove the waffles and repeat with the remaining batter. Serve warm with maple syrup, whipped cream, and a pat of butter on top.
