Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, large eggs, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth and fully blended.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Gently stir with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; some lumps are okay.

  2. 4

    Preheat Skillet

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Lightly grease the surface with a little butter or cooking spray.

  3. 5

    Cook Pancakes

Using a ladle or measuring cup, pour about 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake. Cook until bubbles form on the surface, about 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with remaining batter.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve Hot

Serve the pancakes warm, topped with whipped butter and drizzled with maple syrup to taste.
