Prep
- 1
Chill and measure
Chill a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for a few minutes and measure out vodka, lime juice, and simple syrup. Keep the hard seltzer cold in the refrigerator until ready to assemble.
Build the Drink
- 2
Muddle (optional)
If using mint and simple syrup, place the mint leaves and simple syrup in the chilled glass. Gently muddle 3 times with a muddler or the back of a spoon to release the mint oils—avoid over-muddling to prevent bitterness.
- 3
Add spirits and ice
Add the measured vodka and fresh lime juice to the glass. Fill the glass with ice up to about 3/4 full (approximately 1 cup). Stir gently to combine the vodka, lime, and any syrup/mint.
- 4
Top with seltzer
Slowly top the drink with 12 fl oz of chilled hard seltzer to preserve carbonation. Pour down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon to reduce foaming.
Finish & Garnish
- 5
Give the drink one gentle stir to integrate the seltzer with the spirit mixture. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and a mint sprig tucked into the top. Serve immediately while fizzy and cold.
