Meatballs and Sauce
Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, egg, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Form the Meatballs
Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter. Set aside.
- 3
Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- 4
Prepare the Sauce
Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, and basil to the skillet with the meatballs. Stir to combine and let simmer for 15 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
- 5
Assemble the Submarine
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the sub rolls lengthwise and place them on a baking sheet. Spoon the meatballs and sauce into the rolls, top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- 6
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 7
Serve
Remove from the oven, let cool for a minute, then serve hot.
