Preparing the Sandwich

Toast the Bread
In a toaster or on a skillet, lightly toast the sourdough bread slices until golden brown.

Prepare the Vegetables
Wash the romaine lettuce leaves and slice the tomato into thin rounds.

Assemble the Sandwich
Spread mayonnaise on one side of two slices of toasted bread, then layer with turkey, Swiss cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Add Dijon mustard to the other two slices and top the sandwich. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Cut the Sandwich
Using a sharp knife, cut the assembled sandwich diagonally in half.
Preparing the Hand-Cut Chips

Wash and Cut Potatoes
Wash the russet potatoes thoroughly, then cut each potato into thin strips to create chips.

Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 180°C (350°F).

Fry the Chips
Carefully add the potato strips to the hot oil in batches, frying them until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes per batch.

Drain and Season
Use a slotted spoon to remove the chips from the oil and drain on paper towels. Season with salt to taste.

Serve the sandwich halves with a side of hand-cut chips and pickle slices.
