Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mixing the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined; avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Shaping the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 3

    Preheating the Grill

Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cooking the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until they reach your desired doneness. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Toasting the Buns

While the patties are cooking, you can toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Building the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer the lettuce, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Cap with the top half of the bun.
