Preparation
- 1
Season the Steaks
Pat the filet mignon steaks dry with paper towels to remove any moisture. Sprinkle salt, black pepper, and garlic powder evenly over both sides of the steaks. Press the seasoning into the meat gently. Let the steaks sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

Sear the Steaks
Carefully place the seasoned filet mignon steaks in the hot skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until a nice brown crust forms. Do not move the steaks while searing.

Butter Baste
In the last minute of cooking, add the unsalted butter, rosemary, and thyme to the skillet. Tilt the pan slightly and use a spoon to baste the melted butter over the steaks for extra flavor.

Rest the Steaks
Once cooked to your desired doneness, remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before serving.
