Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Patty

Take the 8 oz of certified chuck beef and gently form it into a patty shape, about ¾ inch thick. Make sure not to overwork the meat to keep it tender.

  2. 2

    Season the Patty

Sprinkle both sides of the beef patty with salt and pepper to taste. This enhances the flavor of the meat.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Patty

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the patty on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side.

  2. 4

    Flip the Patty

After 4-5 minutes, flip the patty carefully using a spatula. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the final minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the patty to allow it to melt.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns and Vegetables

While the patty is cooking, slice the tomato into rounds and wash the lettuce leaves. Toast the burger bun lightly if desired.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Burger

Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Place the cooked beef patty with melted cheese on top, followed by lettuce and tomato slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
