Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the certified ground chuck with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat. Form into two equal patties, each weighing 8 oz.

  2. 2

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the burger patties. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place cheese on top of each patty to melt.

  3. 3

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half and toast them on the grill or skillet until golden brown.

Caramelized Onions Preparation

  1. 4

    Slice the Onion

Peel and thinly slice the medium onion.

  2. 5

    Cook the Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and butter. Once melted and hot, add the sliced onions. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until the onions are soft and caramelized. Season with salt to taste.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a cooked burger patty topped with melted cheese. Add a generous amount of caramelized onions on top of the cheese. Cap with the top half of the bun.

  2. 7

    Serve

Serve the burgers warm with your favorite side dishes.
