Biscuit Ingredients

Method

Biscuit Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Biscuits

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined. Do not overmix.

  2. 2

    Shape and Bake

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and pat it down to about 1 inch thick. Cut out biscuits using a cutter or glass. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Gravy Directions

  1. 3

    Cook the Onions

In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the chopped sweet onion and sauté until translucent and soft, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Make the Gravy

Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir to combine, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly until the gravy thickens. Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and green peas, cooking for another 2-3 minutes.

  3. 5

    Prepare Protein

Cook your choice of protein (seared salmon, smoked chicken leg, or cajun tofu) as per your preference and set aside.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Serve

Split the biscuits in half, top with the sweet onion gravy, and add your choice of protein on the side or on top. Enjoy!
