Chill the Glass
Start by chilling your martini glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail.

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, combine the gin and dry vermouth. Fill the mixing glass with ice.

Stir
Stir the mixture gently for about 30 seconds until well chilled.

Strain
Empty the ice water from the chilled martini glass. Strain the cocktail mixture into the glass.

Garnish
Garnish with either an olive or a twist of lemon peel. Serve immediately.
