Preparation of Coffee Mixture
Brew the Coffee
Brew 1 cup of espresso or strong coffee. Allow it to cool slightly.
Mix Coffee with Liqueur
In a shallow dish, combine the brewed coffee with 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur, if using. Set aside.
Mascarpone Filling Preparation
Whisk Egg Yolks and Sugar
In a large bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar until well combined and creamy.
Add Mascarpone and Vanilla
Add 500g of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg mixture. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
Fold in Whipped Cream
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
Assembling the Tiramisu
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
Layer the Tiramisu
In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers on the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone filling over the ladyfingers.
Repeat Layers
Repeat with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone filling.
Finishing Touches
Chill the Tiramisu
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Dust with Cocoa Powder
Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
