Pasta

Method

Pasta Preparation

1

Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

2

Cook the Pasta

Add 400g of pasta to the boiling salted water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

3

Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving about 1 cup of the pasta water.

Sauce Preparation

4

Sauté the Garlic

In a large skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Once hot, add 3 minced garlic cloves and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

5

Add Tomatoes

Pour in the 800g of crushed tomatoes and stir well. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

6

Season the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper to the sauce. Allow it to simmer for about 10-15 minutes on low heat, stirring occasionally.

7

Add Basil

Stir in 1 cup of chopped fresh basil leaves and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Combine and Serve

8

Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to combine, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time if needed to loosen the sauce.

9

Serve

Plate the pasta and top each serving with grated Parmesan cheese. Garnish with additional basil if desired.
