1. Cook the Linguine
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
2. Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
3. Add Tomatoes and Combine
Add the halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes until they start to soften. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
4. Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked linguine to the skillet with the tomato mixture. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until the desired consistency is reached.
5. Finish with Basil and Cheese
Remove from heat and stir in the chopped basil and grated Parmesan cheese. Adjust seasoning as needed.
6. Serve
Divide the pasta among serving plates and enjoy while hot.
