Base & Mixer

Citrus & Brighteners

Optional Spirit (for an adult version)

Ice

Method

Prep

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a highball glass or Collins glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes to chill while you prepare ingredients.

  2. 2

    Measure shimmer

Measure 1/8 tsp edible silver luster dust (or a small pinch of edible glitter) and set aside in a small dish. If using powdered luster dust, keep it dry until ready to add.

Mixing

  1. 3

    Build citrus base

In a mixing glass or small pitcher, combine 0.5 fl oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 fl oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.25 fl oz simple syrup. Stir briefly (5–10 seconds) to combine.

  2. 4

    Add spirit (optional)

If making the adult version, add 1.5 fl oz light rum or vodka to the citrus mixture and stir once to combine.

  3. 5

    Add Pepsi

Remove chilled glass from the freezer. Add 6 large ice cubes to the glass. Pour the citrus (and spirit, if using) mixture over the ice. Slowly pour 12 fl oz Pepsi into the glass, aiming for a gentle pour down the side to preserve carbonation. Leave about 1/2 in (approx 1.25 cm) of headroom.

  4. 6

    Top with sparkle

Gently top with 2 fl oz club soda to lift the shimmer and add light effervescence.

  5. 7

    Incorporate edible glitter

Sprinkle the measured 1/8 tsp edible silver luster dust into the surface of the drink. Allow it to settle briefly, then give one very gentle stir (1–2 revolutions with a bar spoon) to create a slow, swirling 'starry' effect. Avoid vigorous stirring to keep the shimmer suspended and the carbonation intact.

Garnish & Serve

  1. 8

    Garnish

Float one star anise on the surface and drop a thin lime wheel onto the rim or inside the glass. If desired, thread the star anise on a small skewer and rest it across the top of the glass for presentation.

  2. 9

    Serve

Serve immediately with a straw or short stirring stick and advise the guest to gently swirl before sipping to enjoy the shifting glitter and layered flavors.
