Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.
- 2
Cook Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside.
Making the Meat Sauce
- 4
Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
- 5
Add Garlic
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- 6
Brown the Meat
Add the ground beef and ground pork to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 8-10 minutes.
- 7
Add Wine
Pour in the red wine and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the alcohol to evaporate.
- 8
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, black pepper, oregano, and basil. Bring to a simmer.
- 9
Simmer Sauce
Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add the drained spaghetti to the meat sauce and toss gently to combine, ensuring the pasta is well coated.
- 11
Serve
Serve the spaghetti hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
