Method
Chips Preparation
- 1
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- 2
Fry the Chips
Carefully add a handful of tortilla chips to the hot oil and fry them until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
- 3
Drain and Cool
Once fried, remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Repeat with remaining chips.
Assembly
- 4
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while the chips are cooling.
- 5
Layer the Chips
On a large baking sheet, spread out the fried tortilla chips in an even layer.
- 6
Add Toppings
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the chips, followed by jalapeños, green onions, and any additional toppings you desire.
- 7
Bake
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the nachos for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 8
Serve
Remove from the oven and serve immediately with salsa and sour cream on the side.
