Mozzarella Sticks

Method

Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Start by freezing the mozzarella cheese sticks for about 1 hour. This will help them hold their shape during frying.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs mixed with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

  3. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Remove the mozzarella sticks from the freezer. First, dip each stick into the flour, coating it completely, then into the egg, and finally into the breadcrumb mixture. Ensure they are well coated before placing them on a plate.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a heavy skillet or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Marinara Sauce

  1. 6

    Sauté Garlic

In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir in the dried oregano, salt, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  3. 8

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer uncovered for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 9

    Finish the Sauce

Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving. Adjust seasoning if needed.
