Method

Preparation of Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Create a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help it cook evenly.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese (Optional)

If using cheddar cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Assembling the Burgers

  1. 6

    Prepare the Toppings

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and red onion. Rinse the lettuce leaves and pat them dry.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

Toast the burger buns if desired. On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty, tomato slices, onion slices, and any condiments you prefer. Top with the other half of the bun.
