Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the beef mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef with 1 tsp salt, 0.5 tsp black pepper, 0.5 tsp garlic powder, and 0.5 tsp onion powder. Mix gently to combine without overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the grill or skillet

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or heat a skillet over medium-high heat on the stove.

  2. 4

    Cook the patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness (160°F for medium).

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the toppings

While the patties are cooking, wash and prepare the toppings. Tear 2 lettuce leaves, slice 1 medium tomato, and slice 0.5 medium onion into rings.

  2. 6

    Assemble the burger

Once the patties are cooked, place each patty on a burger bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, and onion rings. Add any additional condiments if desired, then place the top bun on.
