Method

Cake Directions

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine and Add Boiling Water

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Then slowly add the boiling water to the batter and mix until smooth.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cakes

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Directions

  1. 7

    Prepare the Frosting

In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add the cocoa powder and powdered sugar, alternating with the milk, mixing until smooth and fluffy.

  2. 8

    Add Vanilla

Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

  3. 9

    Frost the Cake

Once the cakes have completely cooled, spread a layer of frosting on top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.

  4. 10

    Serve

Slice and serve the chocolate cake. Enjoy!
