Preparing the BBQ Sauce

Make the Sauce
In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Cook the Sauce
Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it begins to simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Preparing the Burgers

Form the Patties
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.

Grill the Patties
Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the patties and grill for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

Add Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.
Assembling the Burger

Prepare the Buns
Toast the burger buns on the grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

Build the Burger
Spread a generous amount of the chipotle BBQ sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place the grilled patty with melted cheese on top, followed by 1 strip of cooked bacon. Add any additional toppings you desire, then finish with the top half of the bun.
