Preparation of Lasagna Sheets

  1. 1

    Boil Lasagna Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Meat Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Cook Ground Beef

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent. Add ground beef and cook until browned.

  2. 3

    Add Tomatoes

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cheese Mixture Preparation

  1. 4

    Mix Cheese Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped basil, and salt. Mix until well combined.

Assembling Lasagna

  1. 5

    Layer Ingredients

In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top, followed by half of the cheese mixture, another layer of meat sauce, and another 3 noodles. Repeat the layers, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.

  2. 6

    Add Mozzarella

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the top layer of meat sauce.

Baking the Lasagna

  1. 7

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  2. 8

    Rest and Serve

Allow the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and serve.
