Method

Pie Crust

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pie Crust

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the unsalted butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Form the Dough

Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Do not overwork the dough.

  3. 3

    Chill the Dough

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    Roll Out the Dough

After chilling, roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Place in the pan and trim the excess dough.

  5. 5

    Pre-bake the Crust

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork and bake for 10-15 minutes until lightly golden.

Filling

  1. 6

    Prepare the Filling

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, and salt until well combined.

  2. 7

    Add Eggs

Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract.

  3. 8

    Stir in Chocolate and Pecans

Fold in the chocolate chips and pecans until evenly distributed.

  4. 9

    Fill the Pie Crust

Pour the filling mixture into the pre-baked pie crust.

  5. 10

    Bake the Pie

Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is slightly puffed.

  6. 11

    Cool

Allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Toppings

  1. 12

    Serve with Toppings

Slice the cooled pie and serve with a dollop of whipped cream, drizzling with chocolate and caramel sauces, and sprinkling shaved chocolate on top.
