Method
Preparation
- 1
Brew the Coffee
Brew 1 cup of espresso or strong coffee and let it cool slightly. If using coffee liqueur, mix it with the coffee.
- 2
Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture
In a large bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy. Add in 1 cup of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
- 3
Whip the Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
Assembly
- 4
Soak the Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee mixture, making sure they are soaked but not soggy.
- 5
Layer the Tiramisu
In a rectangular or square dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers followed by half of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat the process with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- 6
Chill and Serve
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
