Gravy Ingredients

Method

Gravy Directions

1

Prepare the Base

In a medium saucepan, add the turkey drippings over medium heat. If you do not have enough drippings, you can supplement with additional chicken broth.

2

Make the Roux

In a separate bowl, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for about 2-3 minutes until lightly golden and bubbly. This will create a roux, which will help thicken the gravy.

3

Combine Ingredients

Slowly whisk the turkey drippings into the roux, ensuring no lumps form. Continue to whisk until the mixture is smooth.

4

Add Chicken Broth

Pour in the chicken broth while continuing to whisk. This will help to further thin the gravy to your desired consistency.

5

Season the Gravy

Add salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, fresh thyme leaves, and Worcestershire sauce to the gravy. Stir well to combine all the flavors.

6

Simmer and Thicken

Allow the gravy to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your liking. If it gets too thick, you can add a bit more chicken broth or water.

7

Final Adjustments

Taste the gravy and adjust seasoning if needed. If a richer flavor is desired, you can add more Worcestershire sauce or herbs.

8

Serve

Once the gravy has reached your desired consistency and flavor, remove from heat and serve warm alongside your roasted turkey and subs.
