Bread Ingredients

Method

Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water (1.5 cups) and sugar (1 tbsp). Sprinkle the active dry yeast (2 tbsp) over the water and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together gluten-free all-purpose flour (3 cups), xanthan gum (1 tsp), salt (1 tsp), and baking powder (2 tsp) until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Once the yeast mixture is foamy, add it to the dry ingredients along with olive oil (2 tbsp) and apple cider vinegar (1 tbsp). Mix well until a thick batter forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the mixture to a lightly floured surface (using gluten-free flour) and knead gently for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

  6. 6

    Shape the Dough

After the first rise, punch down the dough, then shape it into a loaf. Place the loaf in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.

  7. 7

    Second Rise

Cover the loaf with the damp cloth again and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until it expands.

  8. 8

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the loaf is rising.

  9. 9

    Bake the Bread

Once the dough has risen, bake it in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.

  10. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
