Cake Base Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well combined.
Cream Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, cream the unsalted butter until smooth. Gradually add the granulated sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into a greased and floured cake pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool the Cake
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting Preparation
Beat Butter
In a mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy and smooth.
Add Sugar and Vanilla
Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing on low speed until combined. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
Adjust Consistency
Add milk one tablespoon at a time until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
Cake Assembly and Decoration
Frost the Cake
Once the cake is completely cooled, spread a layer of frosting on top. Use a spatula to smooth it out evenly.
Add Berries and Chocolate
Decorate the top of the cake with fresh berries and sprinkle chocolate shavings over the frosting for an appealing finish.
Slice and Serve
Cut the cake into slices using a serrated knife. Serve and enjoy!
