Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Pat them dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Add the ribeye steaks to the hot skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip. Add the butter and rosemary or thyme to the skillet, basting the steaks with the melted butter as you cook. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 5

    Boil the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into even-sized chunks. Place them in a large pot of cold, salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.

  2. 6

    Cook the Garlic

In the last 5 minutes of cooking the potatoes, add the garlic cloves to the pot.

  3. 7

    Drain and Mash

Once the potatoes and garlic are cooked, drain them well. Return to the pot and add the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.
