Begin by chilling a rocks glass. You can do this by placing it in the freezer for about 10 minutes or filling it with ice water while you prepare the drink.

Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing glass, combine the bourbon or rye whiskey, simple syrup, and Angostura bitters. Fill the mixing glass with ice cubes and stir gently for about 30 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.
