Burger Patty

Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

1

Form the Patties

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, each weighing approximately 8 ounces. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while grilling.

2

Grill the Patties

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the patties on the grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until they reach your desired doneness (medium-rare is about 135°F).

Assembling the Burger

3

Prepare the Buns

While the patties are grilling, slice the brioche buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

4

Layer the Ingredients

On the bottom half of each toasted brioche bun, place a generous leaf of lettuce. Add a grilled beef patty on top of the lettuce, followed by slices of tomato, onion, and pickles. Finally, place the top half of the bun on the assembled burger.

5

Serve

Serve the Union League Cafe Burger immediately with your favorite side, such as fries or a salad.
