For the Tiramisu

Method

Preparation of the Cream Mixture

  1. 1

    Separate the Eggs

Carefully separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Place the yolks in a mixing bowl and the whites in a separate clean bowl.

  2. 2

    Whisk the Egg Yolks

Add the granulated sugar to the egg yolks and whisk until the mixture is pale and creamy.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Mascarpone

Add the mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture and mix gently until smooth and well combined.

  4. 4

    Whip the Cream

In another bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until no streaks remain.

  5. 5

    Beat the Egg Whites

Using a clean whisk, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.

Assembling the Tiramisu

  1. 6

    Prepare the Coffee

Brew the espresso coffee and let it cool slightly. You can add a splash of coffee liqueur for extra flavor, if desired.

  2. 7

    Dip the Ladyfingers

Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso, making sure not to soak them. Lay them in a single layer at the bottom of a rectangular dish.

  3. 8

    Layer the Cream Mixture

Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers, smoothing it out with a spatula.

  4. 9

    Repeat Layers

Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture. Smooth the top with a spatula.

  5. 10

    Chill the Tiramisu

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to develop.

  6. 11

    Serve

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and garnish with shaved dark chocolate. Slice and enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
