Preparing the Salad
- 1
Wash and Chop Lettuce
Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt and debris. Shake off excess water, then chop into bite-sized pieces. Place the chopped lettuce in a large salad bowl.
- 2
Add Croutons
Sprinkle croutons over the chopped romaine lettuce in the salad bowl.
Making the Caesar Dressing
- 3
Prepare Ingredients
Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. Drain the anchovy fillets and chop them into small pieces.
- 4
Combine Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine minced garlic, chopped anchovy fillets, egg yolk, Dijon mustard, and lemon juice. Whisk together until smooth.
- 5
Add Olive Oil
Slowly drizzle in the olive oil while continuously whisking the mixture to emulsify the dressing until it is creamy.
- 6
Mix in Parmesan
Stir in grated parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper to taste. Adjust seasoning as necessary.
Assembling the Salad
- 7
Dress the Salad
Pour the prepared Caesar dressing over the salad base in the bowl. Toss gently to coat the lettuce and croutons evenly with the dressing.
- 8
Serve
Serve immediately, garnishing with additional parmesan cheese if desired.
