Method
Preparing the Bread
- 1
Slice the Baguette
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick slices.
- 2
Toast the Bread
Arrange the slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil. Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
Preparing the Topping
- 3
Chop the Tomatoes
While the bread is toasting, chop the tomatoes into small dice and place them in a mixing bowl.
- 4
Add Basil and Garlic
Finely chop the fresh basil leaves and add them to the bowl with the tomatoes. Mince the garlic cloves and add them as well.
- 5
Season the Mixture
Add salt and black pepper to the tomato mixture. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients. Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Assembling the Bruschetta
- 6
Top the Toasted Bread
Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven. Spoon the tomato mixture generously on top of each slice.
- 7
Serve Immediately
Drizzle with a little extra olive oil if desired, and serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
