Classic Cocktails (makes 2 servings each)

Method

Gin Martini (2 servings)

  1. 1

    Combine and chill

Add 6 tbs gin and 2 tbs dry vermouth into a mixing glass filled with ice (use about 8 ice cubes). Stir gently for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

  2. 2

Strain into two chilled martini glasses. Garnish each with a lemon twist or olive if preferred. Serve immediately.

Vodka Martini (2 servings)

  1. 3

Add 6 tbs vodka and 1–2 tbs dry vermouth into a mixing glass with ice. Stir (or shake if preferred) 15–20 seconds. Strain into two chilled martini glasses and garnish with a lemon twist or olive.

Classic Daiquiri (2 servings)

  1. 4

In a shaker, combine 6 tbs white rum, 2 tbs fresh lime juice, and 1 tbs simple syrup. Add ice, cap and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.

  2. 5

Double-strain into two chilled coupe or rocks glasses. Garnish each with a lime wedge.

Whiskey Sour (2 servings)

  1. 6

In a shaker, combine 6 tbs bourbon, 2 tbs fresh lemon juice, 2 tbs simple syrup and 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Add ice and shake 10–15 seconds.

  2. 7

Strain into two rocks glasses over fresh ice. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a lemon wheel.

Negroni (2 servings)

  1. 8

Build in a mixing glass: combine 2 tbs gin, 2 tbs sweet vermouth and 2 tbs Campari (substitute triple sec not recommended for a true Negroni). Add ice and stir 20–30 seconds.

  2. 9

Strain into two rocks glasses over large ice cubes. Garnish with an orange twist (use lemon twist if preferred).

Margarita (2 servings)

  1. 10

In a shaker, combine 6 tbs tequila (substitute vodka if desired), 2 tbs triple sec and 2 tbs fresh lime juice. Add 1 tbs simple syrup if you like it slightly sweeter. Add ice and shake 10–15 seconds.

  2. 11

Strain into two salt-rimmed coupe or rocks glasses. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Long Drink / Highball (2 servings)

  1. 12

Fill two highball glasses with ice. For a rum & cola: pour 6 tbs white rum into each glass (total 12 tbs if making two identical drinks), top each with 90 ml cola, and gently stir once. Garnish with a lime wedge.

  2. 13

For a gin & soda: pour 6 tbs gin into a glass, top with 90 ml soda water, stir lightly and garnish with a lemon wheel.

Notes & Serving

  1. 14

All quantities are scaled to produce two servings for each listed cocktail. If you plan to make one cocktail at a time, halve the quantities. Adjust sweet/sour balance to taste by increasing or decreasing simple syrup or citrus. Use fresh citrus for best flavor. Chill glassware for martinis and coupes ahead of time. Always use fresh ice and appropriate garnishes.
