Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Half Beak Fish

Rinse the half beak fish under cold water and remove any guts or scales if necessary. Pat dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Marinade

In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, honey, and black pepper. Whisk until well combined.

  3. 3

    Marinate the Fish

Place the cleaned half beak fish in a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the fish, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a non-stick pan over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Cook the Fish

Remove the fish from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Grill or pan-fry the fish for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and have a nice char.

  3. 6

    Prepare the Garnish

While the fish is cooking, chop the green onions and set aside. Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat until golden brown.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate the Dish

Once the fish is cooked, transfer to a serving plate. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and toasted sesame seeds for garnish.

  2. 8

    Enjoy

Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your delicious Sayori (Half Beak) dish!
