Fried Pickles

Ranch Dipping Sauce

Method

Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Open the jar of dill pickles and drain the liquid. Pat the pickles dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the all-purpose flour, a mixture of beaten eggs and buttermilk, and the cornmeal mixed with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice first into the flour, coating evenly. Then dip into the egg mixture, and finally into the cornmeal mixture, ensuring an even coating.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Carefully place a few breaded pickles into the hot oil, frying them in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate.

Ranch Dipping Sauce

  1. 6

    Mix the Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dried dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth and creamy.

  2. 7

    Serve

Transfer the ranch dipping sauce to a serving bowl and serve it alongside the fried pickles.
