Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Fries
Peel and cut the potatoes into thick strips. Rinse them in cold water and pat dry.
- 2
Fry the Potatoes
In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potato strips in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season with salt.
- 3
Prepare the Battering Mix
In a bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually whisk in cold beer or sparkling water until the batter is smooth and thick.
- 4
Batter the Fish
Dip each fish fillet into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 5
Fry the Fish
In another pot, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the battered fish into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Serve
Place the fried fish on a plate alongside the fries. Serve with tartar sauce on the side.
