Prepare the Octopus
Clean the octopus thoroughly. If it's not pre-cooked, boil it in salted water for about 45 minutes or until tender. Cool and chop into bite-sized pieces.

Prepare the Sauce
In a large pan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add chopped fresh tomatoes, olives, capers, and red pepper flakes. Cook for about 10 minutes until the tomatoes break down.

Combine Octopus and Sauce
Add the cooked octopus pieces to the sauce. Pour in the white wine and lemon juice. Allow to simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
Cooking the Pasta

Cook the Spaghetti
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained spaghetti to the octopus sauce. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water as needed to reach desired sauce consistency.
