Method
Cooking the Pasta
- 1
Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 4 liters of water to a rolling boil. Add 1 tsp of salt to the water.
- 2
Cook the Pasta
Once the water is boiling, add 200 grams of pasta. Cook according to package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes for al dente.
- 3
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta using a colander and set aside. Reserve a cup of pasta water for later use.
Making the Sauce
- 4
Heat the Olive Oil
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.
- 5
Sauté the Garlic
Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- 6
Add the Cherry Tomatoes
Add 250 grams of halved cherry tomatoes to the skillet. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until they soften and release their juices.
- 7
Combine with Pasta
Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen it.
- 8
Season the Pasta
Add black pepper and toss again. Tear in fresh basil leaves and add grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until well combined.
