Method
Prepare glass & ice
- 1
- 2
Fill the chilled glass with about 1 cup of fresh ice. If using large ice cubes, 3–4 cubes are sufficient; crushed ice also works but will dilute faster.
Assemble cocktail
- 3
- 4
Add 0.25 oz fresh lime juice on top of the grenadine. This adds brightness and balances sweetness.
- 5
Slowly pour 8 oz ginger ale into the glass over the back of a spoon or down the side to help maintain a layered look if desired. Pour gently to minimize foaming.
- 6
If you want a slightly sweeter drink, add up to 0.25 oz of maraschino cherry syrup and stir gently once to combine. Otherwise, do not stir to preserve the layering effect.
Garnish & serve
- 7
Thread one maraschino cherry onto a cocktail pick and drop it into the glass, or simply place it on top of the ice.
- 8
Garnish the rim with an orange wheel and a lime wedge. Optionally squeeze the lime wedge over the drink before dropping it in for extra aroma.
- 9
Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy.
