Method
Smoothie Base
- 1
Prepare ingredients
Measure and assemble all ingredients. If using roasted almonds and you prefer a milder flavor, pulse them in the blender first to break them down before adding other ingredients.
- 2
Add to blender
Place frozen dark cherries, frozen strawberries, cranberry juice, Chobani® Greek yogurt, almonds, and your chosen protein powder (whey or pea) into a high-speed blender.
- 3
Sweeten (optional)
If you prefer a sweeter smoothie, add 1 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup. This is optional — the fruit and juice may be sufficiently sweet on their own.
- 4
Adjust texture
Add 1/4 cup water and/or up to 1 cup ice for a thicker consistency. The frozen fruit will already thicken the smoothie; add water sparingly to reach your desired pourable texture.
- 5
Blend
Blend on high for 45–60 seconds, or until the mixture is completely smooth and the almonds are fully incorporated. Stop and scrape the sides once if needed, then blend again for 10–15 seconds.
- 6
Check consistency and flavor
Taste and check thickness. If too thick, add 2 tablespoons of water at a time and re-blend until you reach the desired consistency. If not sweet enough, add another 1/2 teaspoon of honey or maple syrup and blend briefly.
- 7
Serve
Pour the smoothie into a large glass (about 16–20 oz) or two smaller glasses. Top with sliced almonds and a strawberry slice or cherry if desired.
Garnish (optional)
- 8
Sprinkle the 1 teaspoon of sliced almonds over the smoothie and place the fresh strawberry slice or whole cherries on the rim or on top for presentation.
