Method
Preparing Sticky Rice
- 1
Rinsing the Rice
In a bowl, rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky.
- 2
Soaking the Rice
Soak the rinsed rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight for the best texture.
- 3
Cooking the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice for about 25-30 minutes, or until tender and sticky.
Making Coconut Sauce
- 4
Mixing Ingredients
In a small saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not let it boil.
- 5
Combining with Rice
Once the sticky rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and pour half of the coconut sauce over the rice. Mix well and let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Preparing Mango
- 6
Slicing the Mango
Peel the ripe mangoes and cut them into thin slices or cubes. Make sure to remove the pit.
Serving
- 7
Plating the Dish
Serve the sticky rice on a plate, topped with the sliced mango. Drizzle the remaining coconut sauce over the top, and enjoy!
