Crab Cakes

Side 1: Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Side 2: Steamed Broccoli

Method

Crab Cakes Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the fresh lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chopped green onions, Old Bay seasoning, bread crumbs, beaten egg, salt, and black pepper. Gently fold together until well mixed, being careful not to break up the crab meat.

  2. 2

    Shape Crab Cakes

Using your hands, shape the crab mixture into patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter. Place formed cakes on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape.

  3. 3

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.

  4. 4

    Fry Crab Cakes

Carefully add the crab cakes to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 5

    Boil Potatoes

In a large pot, cover the peeled and cubed potatoes with water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until fork-tender. Drain and return to pot.

  2. 6

    Add Garlic and Butter

Add the minced garlic and butter to the drained potatoes. Mash together until smooth and creamy.

  3. 7

    Add Milk and Season

Pour in the milk and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix until well combined and creamy. Adjust seasoning if necessary.

Steamed Broccoli Preparation

  1. 8

    Steam Broccoli

In a steamer basket over boiling water, add the fresh broccoli florets. Cover and steam for about 5-7 minutes, or until bright green and tender-crisp.

  2. 9

    Season Broccoli

Transfer the steamed broccoli to a serving bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Season with salt and black pepper to taste, tossing to combine.
