Method
Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- 2
Making the Cake Batter
- 3
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
- 4
Combine Sugar and Eggs
In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks until well combined and slightly thickened.
- 5
Mix Ingredients
Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and gently fold until combined. Add flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt, then mix until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
Baking
- 6
Fill Ramekins
Carefully pour the batter into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.
- 7
Bake the Cakes
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
- 8
Cool Slightly
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool for about 1 minute.
Serving
- 9
Serve the Cakes
Run a knife around the edges of the cakes to loosen them. Invert each ramekin onto a plate, allowing the cake to release. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
