Method

Bread Pudding Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the brioche bread into 1-inch cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix the Custard

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the custard mixture over the brioche cubes and gently fold until all the bread is coated. Add the chopped pecans and melted butter, and mix to combine.

  4. 4

    Bake the Pudding

Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.

  5. 5

    Cool

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.

Bourbon Brown Butter Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Brown the Butter

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until it turns golden brown and has a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 7

    Add Sugar and Bourbon

Add the brown sugar and bourbon to the browned butter, stirring until the sugar is dissolved and the sauce is smooth.

  3. 8

    Finish the Sauce

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Set aside to cool slightly.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Dessert

Serve warm bread pudding with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, drizzled with the bourbon brown butter sauce.
