Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Cook the Pasta
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Sauce
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- 3
Mix the Cheese Filling
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, and grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until smooth.
- 4
Assemble the Ziti
In a large baking dish, spread a layer of the tomato sauce on the bottom. Add half of the cooked ziti, followed by half of the cheese mixture, and half of the shredded mozzarella. Repeat the layers, finishing with the remaining sauce and mozzarella on top.
- 5
Bake
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 6
Serve
Let the baked ziti rest for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
