Burger Patties

Method

Preparing the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mash the Beans

In a large mixing bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

Add the cooked quinoa, rolled oats, chopped bell pepper, grated carrot, minced garlic, cumin powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to the bowl with the mashed beans. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.

  3. 3

    Form the Patties

If the mixture feels too wet, gradually add breadcrumbs until the mixture holds together. Form the mixture into 4 equal-sized patties.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the patties and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown. Add more oil if needed.

Assembling the Veggie Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on a grill or in a toaster until they are warm and slightly crispy.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

On the bottom half of each bun, layer fresh spinach leaves, sliced cucumber, lettuce, and a slice of tomato. Place the cooked veggie patty on top of the vegetables.

  3. 7

    Finish the Burger

Top the patty with pickles and sliced onions. Cover with the top half of the bun.

  4. 8

    Serve

Serve the veggie burgers immediately with your favorite side dish, such as fries or a salad.
